Anna Binnemans
Visiting Student

Anna Binnemans is a student from Antwerp, Belgium, and holds a B.S. in Bio-science Engineering with a specialization in Environmental Technology from the KU Leuven. During her undergraduate studies, she delved into research on giving end-of-life polycarbonates a second life—transforming them into MDA, a key precursor for polyurethanes—at the cMACS group in Leuven under the mentorship of Professor De Vos. Now, as a visiting student at MIT’s Smith Research Lab, Anna is exploring the intricate effects of impurities on carbon capture and biogas separation membranes, contributing to the quest for cleaner and more efficient energy solutions. Beyond the lab, Anna thrives on an active lifestyle—whether it’s hitting the gym, soaking up the sunshine over a good coffee and great company, or discovering Boston’s hidden gems with friends.
