Clara Kim
Graduate Student
Clara is from Hong Kong and South Korea and attended the University of Pennsylvania where she received a B.A. in Chemistry and a B.S.E. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. At UPenn, Clara was first advised by Prof. Karen Goldberg and worked on various organometallic catalyst projects on converting ethanol and methane to higher-value products. She was also advised by Prof. Daeyeon Lee and worked on a plastic upcycling project by investigating polymer and nanoparticle interactions to help optimize heterogeneous catalytic reactions. In the Smith group, Clara will be working on interfacial polymerization, specifically for molecular and ionic separations. Outside the lab, Clara enjoys various arts & crafts, watching movies, and exploring someplace new.
