Evan J. Gwozdz
Undergraduate Student – UROP

Evan is a Chemical Engineering undergraduate of the MIT Class of 2022 from Middleboro, Massachusetts with an interest in Materials and Energy Research. Prior to joining the Zachary P. Smith Lab in May of 2020, Evan worked as a Process Engineering Intern for American Industrial Partners. Currently, Evan’s research focuses on computer simulation of polymer membranes for gas separation applications.  Through molecular dynamics, his work seeks to establish relationships between polymer structure and gas transport properties over a range of temperatures. While Evan’s research is currently focused primarily on polyimide membranes, he is interested in expanding his work to investigate polymers of intrinsic microporosity as well as mixed matrix membranes. Outside of the lab, Evan is a member of the MIT Varsity Football team and enjoys volunteering as a coach for the MIT Little Beavers Running Club for children with ASD. Evan also serves as an MIT Class of 2022 Representative for the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and has interests in Business Management and Entrepreneurship.
