Visiting Scholar

Jose M. Luque Alled was born in Barcelona (Spain) and grew up in Zaragoza, Spain. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Zaragoza. He moved to the University of Manchester (UK) to complete his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering under the supervision of Dr. Patricia Gorgojo, where he worked on mixed matrix membranes containing graphene-based materials for gas separation and water treatment applications. Jose received a travel grant to conduct research in the atomic manipulation group at the Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia (Spain). He then moved to the University of Zaragoza as a postdoctoral researcher, where he is currently working as a Juan de la Cierva Research Fellow. His research focuses on the preparation of thin nanocomposite membranes for molecular separations. Currently, Jose is a visiting scholar at MIT working on PIM-1 mixed matrix membranes for gas separations. Outside of the lab, Jose enjoys watching and playing soccer, hanging out with friends, and dancing salsa and bachata.
