Yein Yoon is from Gwangju, South Korea. She received a B.A. in Chemistry and a B.S.E in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania. At Penn, she was advised by Prof. Tom Mallouk to do research on bipolar membranes with graphene oxide for acid-base redox flow batteries. She also spent one summer at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology to work on nanoparticle organic hybrid materials for carbon capture. In the Smith group, Yein will work on interfacial polymerization. Outside the lab, she enjoys baking, traveling, or cafe hopping.
